Abstract :
Banks being an important part of social development process are no exception of IT revolution. Banks are growing organisms marked by continuous increase in their collection, services and customers. But the same time isn’t always satisfied with the resources they are provided with. Indian Banking industry today is in the midst of an IT revolution. A combination of regulatory and competitive reasons has led to the increasing importance of total banking automation in the Indian banking industry. Entry of new banks resulted in a paradigm shift in the ways of banking transactions in India.. A new wave of technology that affected the Indian Banking industry the most during the last decade is mobile banking. Banks are now increasingly choosing mobile banking platform for their various services to the consumers. This paper examines the concept, benefits, and services of mobile banking and also studies the role of information technology in mobile banking industry.
